Removing Deep Stains
Professional grade whitening gels safely oxidize the deep-set stain particles inside of your porous tooth enamel. You can’t buy these products online or in stores. Just like any prescription grade product, you can only get them directly from a professional.
Dr. Fabiola Garcia can help you determine the best concentration of whitening gel for your unique smile needs. Some are stronger and faster, while others are gentler for people with sensitive teeth.
Reasons for Tooth Staining
Some of the most common types of discoloration that you can treat with teeth whitening come from:
• Dark liquids like coffee, tea, red wine, and soda
• Tobacco products
• Medications, such as tetracycline
• Age
• Environmental factors
• Vitamin or supplement use
While we can polish away superficial stains during your checkups, there are some discolorations that are set deeper into teeth and only respond to oxidizing gels. Our Houston cosmetic dentist can help you get the brighter teeth you want, so that you can show off your smile everywhere you go!
Types of Teeth Whitening
Everyone’s smile is different. At Fabulous Dentistry we curate your teeth whitening experience to meet your priorities, timeline, and budget. Depending on your situation, Dr. Garcia may recommend one of the following types of application methods.
Same Day Teeth Whitening — If you’re short on time and need a brighter smile for a big event, or you just want to treat yourself to fast results, ask about our in-office bleaching option. This system can whiten your teeth by several shades in just over an hour.
Take Home Whitening Trays — A custom set of bleaching trays keep the gel right where your teeth need it, so that you can get professional results in the convenience of your own home. Wear your trays for an hour a day, for 10-14 days. Average results are 5-8 shades brighter. Plus, you can keep your trays to touch up anytime you need to (we recommend bleaching for a few days after each six-month dental checkup!) Pick up a gel refill in our office whenever you run out.
What About Kits Sold Online?
Do over the counter bleaching products work? To an extent. The strips tend to work best, in that they hold the gel against your teeth. However, they take much longer to show results and cannot whiten as brightly, because the concentration of gel is much lower than what you would get from a cosmetic dentist. After purchasing 2-3 kits, you may have already spent as much on an over the counter system as you would custom trays, without the results to show for it.
