Common Dental Emergencies We Treat
Broken or Knocked-out Teeth — Chipped, avulsed, or broken teeth are one of the most common dental emergencies we see. Fast action is crucial to save your tooth. If possible, locate the tooth fragment and immediately store it in a sealed container with saline, contact solution, or milk. Some people can even use saliva. Teeth that are completely intact can be gently rinsed under running water (don’t scrub them, as this can damage the tiny ligaments on the root) and then set back into the socket. It’s crucial to get to our office within the next hour.
Crown or Bridge Falling Off — It’s possible for new cavities to form around the margins of fillings, crowns, or fixed bridges. When they do, the restoration can come loose or even fall out. If it’s a bridge or crown, store it in a zip-top bag and bring it to our office to see if it’s possible for Dr. Garcia to recement it. However, it might need to be replaced.
Toothaches and Abscessed Teeth — A dull, throbbing toothache or sharp jolting pain can keep you from going to work or even being able to eat. If your tooth is abscessed, you might also notice a small pimple along the gums where fluid builds up, then drains. These types of dental infections never resolve on their own, but you can temporarily relieve the discomfort with an over-the-counter pain killer.

Dr. Fabiola Garcia, a trusted Houston emergency dentist, provides same-day dental care for unexpected pain, injuries, and infections. If you’re experiencing a dental emergency, don’t wait—call us now!

Try to put the tooth back in its socket or store it in milk or saline. Get to our office within an hour for the best chance of saving it.
What if my dental emergency happens at night or on the weekend?

Will my insurance cover an emergency dental visit?
Most dental insurance plans cover emergency visits, at least in part. We also accept credit cards and other payment options for your convenience.
What can I do to prevent dental emergencies?
Regular checkups, daily brushing and flossing, wearing a mouthguard for sports, and avoiding chewing hard objects can help prevent unexpected dental issues.
